Chorlton Mosaic Evening Class – Details

Mosaic Classes with Tracey Cartledge in Manchester
Ceramic mosaic in progress
This is a relaxed group meeting to encourage and inspire each other, supported by the guidance of local artist Tracey Cartledge. Participants will work at their own pace, picking up where they left off each session they attend. Project One is making a fairly simple mosaic design with broken ceramic pieces glued onto board and  then grouted. It will be suitable for hanging on an indoor wall. Follow-on projects can be arranged on an individual basis – if there is a project that you especially want to achieve –  or you can carry on to do the next set project provided. A hand-out with the method used, suppliers details and other useful information is provided to support each project in the course.

HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON!!

Week-end Mosaic Courses at Norton Priory Museum & Gardens

Great news!!

We’ve arranged with the lovely staff at Norton Priory to host a series of mosaic week-end courses this spring/summer……

Join us for an inspired week-end of creativity. The two day course includes full access to the idyllic 40 acre site, with its 12th century Priory, museum and Georgian Walled Garden, sure to give you lots of inspiration from which to create your mosaic design.

Friend and colleague, artist Karen Allerton and I will be co-hosting the week-ends and aim to keep the groups to a cosy number to ensure a relaxed atmosphere and enough help and attention for all.

We will be on hand for guidance and advice throughout the week-end’s activity, which starts with drawing/painting/photography in the grounds. There will be an exciting selection of materials provided in the education room studio to choose from allowing you to create a mosaic masterpiece that can take pride of place in your home or garden.

Love Your House: Make a Mosaic Door Number Plaque

In our next project (2) at The Edge Thursday evening classes, we will be making mosaic signs suitable for outdoors, such as house number plaques. This will give you the opportunity to make a functional mosaic for your own house or to give as a gift and to learn some specific mosaic techniques, consideration of colour and composition.

The example is above is by US artist Jennie Stephens. Why not visit her website for more inspiration: http://www.jenniestephensart.com/custommosaichousenumbers.html

You can opt into project two as soon as you have completed project one or you can work on a project of your own instead. Please feel free to bring any of your own materials and your own project designs and ideas to work on or you can arrange with me to source particular materials for you. If you are working on one of the prescribed projects, however, all the materials will be provided.

This Thursday I will bring nippers, safety specs and squeegees for you to purchase, as requested. You can pay on the night or from the website in advance. (remember you need to click the ‘collection’ option instead of standard delivery to prevent the payment gateway from calculating a shipping cost on your order). http://www.traceycartledge.co.uk/
