Artful Splodgers

The newly formed artist team Cathy, Luke & Tracey, aka artHAUS, are set to launch their new art programme for children in Chorlton next week.

This initiative to provide good quality art instruction over a course of 10 weeks will kick off at Chorlton C E  Primary School on Monday 20th September. The artists have been very busy devising the programme and getting set up for action with budding artists from Years 1 to 6 over three afternoons a week for this pilot project.

“We have decided to limit the places to a maximum of 15 children per session. This way we can give each child more help and attention”. The programme includes some traditional stuff – drawing and observation techniques etc. – and some evaluation of styles seen in the work of the Old Masters, Modern and Post-Modern Art and more contemporary work. “We’ll be encouraging children to see more when they look and get to grips with a range of decent quality artist materials. We can’t wait to get started – we’re so excited – and looking forward to sharing our enthusiasm with the new generation of Artful Splodgers!!’

Church Leigh Sensory Garden Official Opening

The community came together for a glorious celebration to mark the completion of the sensory garden project at Church Leigh. Local MP Andrew Griffiths cut the ribbon and declared the garden open….

On the day there were lots of happy children, delicious food, sunshine and smiling faces. I think this project was a winner!
